Progress update!

Since our last blog post we have accomplished many milestones and group achievements. In this blog post I will be giving an overview of all our recent actions and their outcomes. However, for more details I invite you to look through our website and Instagram!

Firstly, our raffle took place after an unfortunate date change had to be implemented. However, this small mishap didn't affect the raffle negatively at all! As a team, we were overwhelmed by how many young Westbourne students took part and are forever grateful for the children's participation. Good job kids! Two lucky kids, Sarah and Ryan, won the event and have earnt a $50 card of their choice. Their victory was announced at a Verdon Centre Assembly and we are currently welcoming any feedback or recommendations for any other events we might plan in the foreseeable future.

Shortly before this our team was displayed in the local paper, the Star Weekly. This was our first official media coverage and we were immensely happy and grateful for the opportunity we got. To achieve this, we reached out to the team and luckily they enjoyed our story and offered to publish it alongside a photoshoot. On the 19th of September we took part in a photoshoot and by the 28th it was published for the public to see. It advertises our clean up but also our story and what motivated us to become Operation Environmend.

Lastly, our beach clean up was held on the 19th of October where we were greeted with a wonderful bunch of volunteers. In the end, we worked collaboratively with two groups to host the clean up, further leading to an overall successful action. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to come help out our movement and I encourage you to check out Beach Patrol's website as we worked with them and have learnt that they are frequently planning clean up's in many local beaches.

Conclusively, as a group we have planned many actions designed to achieve minimalizing wastage within households and local areas, and fortunately we have managed to execute many of them amazingly. However, we wouldn't have been able to be such a victorious organisation without the help of everyone who has supported us and assisted us in any way. One last thank you to all those people, hope you continue to look after your local areas. :)
